Biography
Well-known portraitist, author of paintings with historical content and genre scenes. He studied at the Cracow SSP under Władysław Łuszczkiewicz, Florian Cynk, Feliks Szynalewski and Jan Matejko (1877-84). In 1885 he went to Paris, where he studied with Jean-Paul Laurens and exhibited at the Salons. From 1894 he lived permanently in Cracow. He was a board member of the General Association of Polish Artists and the Union Internationale des Beaux-Arts et des Lettres in Paris. In 1934 he was awarded the French Legion of Honor.
