Biography
Well-known portraitist, author of paintings with historical content and genre scenes. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow with Władysław Łuszczkiewicz, Florian Cynk, Feliks Szynalewski and Jan Matejko (1877-84). In 1885 he went to Paris, where he studied with Jean-Paul Laurens and exhibited at the Salons. From 1894 he lived permanently in Cracow. He was a board member of the General Association of Polish Artists and the Union Internationale des Beaux-Arts et des Lettres in Paris. In 1934 he was awarded the French Legion of Honor.
