The art work "Plastic IV" is a unique light object. Its individual character is determined by the method of framing, proposed by the author. It is designed as a closed work, supplied with a frame designed to the shape of the graphic. The work is also part of a very narrow, collector's edition. Designed and reflected from a single matrix using a specialized graphic press, which is one of the largest in Poland.
Iwona Cur's graphic work is the result of her doctoral dissertation of several years, completed at the UMCS in Lublin. The work is part of the emergence of a new "trend" in her work, relating directly to the phenomenon of process, transformation. Forms in the form of graphic content are an event stopped in the frame. The works in their entirety are extended by interactive reality in the form of computer animation.
The graphic work "Plastic IV" is made in linocut technique and kept in black and white convention.
In black and white graphics lies the power to stimulate the imagination.
Each of us carries a map of inspiration, favorite creative practices, experience and attachment to certain procedures that never fail to produce the right results. However we ourselves are affected by external factors. Under the influence of the passage of time, the intensity of experience, the variability of stimuli, we ourselves are transformed. Our creative activity evolves just as strongly.
Iwona Cur - born in 1978 in Pulawy. In 2003 she received a diploma from the Department of Workshop Graphics at the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw. She completed her diploma work in the studio of Professor Waldemar Szysz. In 2008, she completed postgraduate studies in Cultural Marketing at the University of Warsaw. In 2022 she defended her doctorate at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at Marie Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin.
Since 2005, she was affiliated with her alma mater, where she worked as an assistant at the Department of Workshop Graphics. In 2012 she founded "Pracownia Kwadrat" in Stare Bielany, Warsaw. Author of several solo exhibitions. Winner of awards, of which we can mention the nomination for the Grand Prix and an art scholarship in the national Competition of the President of the Republic of Poland for the Best Graduation Diploma in Fine Arts and Design (2003), Grand Prix in the Biennale Tarnowskie Klimaty (2005).
Awarded several times in the Warsaw Graphics competition, including the prize of the year 2003 funded by the portal Artinfo.pl and the award of the National Museum in Warsaw.
