Austrian landscape painter, son of academic decorative painter Josef Toma. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He painted mainly motifs from the Alps, the Tyrol, the Salzburg area, Bern, as well as landscapes from Hungary and the Middle East. His style was influenced by the Romantics Eugène Delacroix and Caspar David Friedrich. Hence the mysticism of his landscapes and lighting effects. The artist's paintings are in the Historical Museum in Vienna, among others, while his drawings are in the Albertina in Vienna.
