oil on canvas, 13 x 18 cm, signed on the back 'Tomasz Kowalski | 2006'. Graduated from the painting department of AS P in Cracow (2004-2009). He is a member of the ephemeral music formations Anna Dymna Ensemble and Masters of the Universe. He lives and works in Berlin and Krakow. He made his debut in 2006 at the Nova Gallery in Cracow while still a student. In the same year, the artist had a solo exhibition at the Żak-Branicka gallery in Berlin, and further on the career of this very talented painter went by in a flash. A year later he had participated in group exhibitions in Germany and Italy, his paintings attracted the attention of art critics and he was among the group of outstanding artists represented by the prestigious Berlin gallery carliergebauer. Kowalski's painted figures resemble mannequins, melancholic figures often in danger, oppression, which perfectly evokes an atmosphere of hard-to-pin down danger. In his work one can find inspiration in the art of the American self-taught artist and outsider Henry Drager, a painter of unrealistic stories happening outside of historical time, a creator of a world entirely his own.
