Biography
Graduated from the Faculty of Painting
AS P in Cracow (2004-2009). He is a member of
of ephemeral music formations Anna
Dymna Ensemble and Masters of the Universe.
He lives and works in Berlin and Krakow.
He made his debut in 2006 at Krakow's Galeria
Nova while still a student. In the same year
an individual exhibition was organized for the artist by
Żak-Branicka gallery in Berlin and further his career
of this very talented painter went
already proceeded at lightning speed. A year later he had
participation in group exhibitions in Germany
and in Italy, his paintings drew the attention of
art critics and was among the
distinguished artists represented
by the prestigious Berlin gallery carliergebauer.
The figures painted by Kowalski
resemble mannequins, melancholic figures
often finding themselves in danger,
oppression, which perfectly evokes the atmosphere of a difficult to
to specify danger. In his
works one can find inspiration in the art of
American self-taught artist and outsider Henry
Drager, painter of unrealistic stories
happening outside of historical time,
creator of a world entirely his own.
