Biography
Studied in 1930-35 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Wł. Jarocki, K. Sichulski, F. Pautsch and S. Kamocki. In 1935 he took up studies at the State School of Decorative Arts and Artistic Industry in Poznan. In 1938 he returned to the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where he continued his studies with Kamocki until the war. After returning to Cracow, in 1947 he took up a teaching post at the Higher School of Visual Arts, which merged with the Academy of Fine Arts in 1950. From then on, he worked at the Krakow academy, where he served as vice-rector from 1951-54, headed the atelier at the Faculty of Painting from 1954-68 (with the title of associate professor from 1956), and the Chair of Painting at the Faculty of Graphics from 1968-83. His work grows out of the tradition of realist painting.
