Painter and pedagogue, educated at the School of Decorative Arts in Poznań, from 1922-1929 continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under W. Jarocki, F. Pautsch and F. Kowarski, he was also a student of Kowarski at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in 1929-1931. He was a member of the Pryzmat group, an organizer of the Society for Cultural Cooperation in Poznan. He visited Paris, Greece and Italy. In 1960 he moved from Poznan to Krakow, where he became a professor of decorative painting at the Academy of Fine Arts there. The artist often created series of paintings, repeating a compositional motif in different color variations and shots. Over time, he replaced the free color construction of his early still lifes with uniform, broad color patches, the selection of which may be indicative of an almost mathematical speculation in the search for the right color combinations.
