Woodcut on tissue paper; dimensions: 13.0 x 17.5 cm; signed in pencil p.d. J.Kluska. Work exhibited at the 1st International Woodcut Exhibition at IP{S in Warsaw, September 1933 (sticker preserved). Lit.: M. Grońska, Modern Polish woodcuts, Wroclaw 1971; M. Grońska, Graphics in books .... Wroclaw 1994 A great rarity on the antiquarian market.

Józef Kluska-Stawowy (1902-1975) painter, printmaker and educator. A student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. His extensive graphic output includes about 13 volumes of woodcuts. The subjects of the works are architectural motifs and landscapes from Podhale. The atmospheric compositions with geometric and rhythmic surfaces are emphasized by planes of white and gray, developed with a multi-row engraving in stencil blocks.
