A gilded so-called "missal" or prayer book or parishioner of Joan of Arc for every Catholic consisting of several parts. The first contains the basic prayers. The second part consists of the Mass and the service of Vespers. The next part is the liturgy of the word from the Old and New Testaments read for all the Sundays and major feasts of the liturgical year. The last part is the Mass during the administration of the sacrament of marriage and the Stations of the Cross. The text is essentially parallel in Latin and French. It has the imprimatur of the Archbishop of Limoges François-Benjamin-Joseph Blanger, who held the post from 1883 to 1887. The entire book ends with a detailed table of contents with an index of prayers. The prayer book includes 2 full-page engravings according to paintings by Raphael and Rubens. Each page also contains mini engravings with scenes from the life of Joan of Arc and geometric and floral designs.
Period binding, full brown gilt and embossed leather in medium condition with minimal rubbing, especially on the corners; gilt floral designs on the covers and on the front cover monogram "A.D.."; spine embossed and gilt with title and geometric and floral designs; beautiful green clothcover with Bourbon lilies on satin cloth, gilt with signets on binding leather, but unfortunately partially glued on front panel; interior in db condition; occasional stains, but dry; all page edges are gilt; overall medium condition.
