Breviary for the use of King Louis XIV, His House and Court. Gospels, liturgy and reflections accompanied by explanations and commentaries for the entire Holy Week. The work includes dedications to the Chancellor of France, the liturgy of the Mass, prayers for the whole day, texts of readings from the Old and New Testaments with reflections and commentaries by many Authors, using the Fathers of the Church. Text arranged according to Holy Week, day by day from Palm Sunday to Easter Monday. The book was published by the King's personal printer, who was engaged in work only for the benefit of the sovereign, completing the collections of his Cabinet, i.e., a personal library with the most prestigious items always at hand in the sovereign's residence. The work, with abinding monogrammed by Louis XIV (1638-1715), the "Sun King" - the letter "L" and Bourbon lilies ,is a valuable white raven. The old-print has 4 engravings that are illustrations to the text. The first depicts Christ's entry into Jerusalem, the second the Last Supper, the third the Crucifixion, and the last the Resurrection.
