"Contour sculptures" were created as an idea of drawing description of form in space. The restriction of the figure to a contour can be interpreted in two ways. Either the drawing is a simplification, an essence, a reduction of the subject to the essence, where the space around is equivalent, as creating the possibility of the existence of the drawing - the object. As in the Zen tradition - emptiness is form, form is emptiness; an endless duality. A more literal interpretation of "contour figures" as empty, devoid of interiority is also possible, but such a diagnosis is not my intention. If anything, I would be inclined to ask such a question, but not as a thesis.
