Decorative children's portrait by a Young Poland master. Images of children appear in the painter's works quite often, often in the company of fanciful figures or against a landscape background. The background of the offered work is devoid of symbolic references, the luminous portrait fills almost the entire space of the work. Signed by the artist, the composition was presented at the painter's famous monographic exhibition at Krakow's Palace of Art ten years after his death. The exhibition catalog states that the owner of the work was Maria Kirchmayerowa, granddaughter of Jan Matejko.
