Figural group: horse with fanned mane, climbing on hind legs; next to it, a stable boy trying to tame him - half-naked man; signed on base: "Coustou".
A very well-known and widely reproduced sculpture: a reduction of one of the statues chiseled by G. Coustou, from the group known as "Steeds of Marly", in Carrara marble, created to decorate the palace of Louis XV in Marly. Moved to Paris in 1794 to the Place de la Concord, now replaced by copies; originals in the Louvre.
