Auguste Moreau - French sculptor, who came from an illustrious family of sculptors. He was the father of three sculptors (Louis August, Hippolyte and Edmond) and two painters (Gaston August and Albert August); his brother was the sculptor Hippolyte Francois. He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1861 and regularly exhibited his works there until 1913: two- and three-panel genre scenes, allegorical scenes, and a few portraits, mostly done in bronze. His statuettes of cupids brought him international fame. His works are in museums including Bordeaux, Dijon, Gray, Paris and Reims,
as well as in numerous private collections.
