From 1959 to 1964 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studios of Professors Aleksander Kobzdej (painting) and Andrzej Rudzinski (graphic design). He defended his diploma in 1964. He was a member of the International Association of Wood Engravers XYLON (Societe Internationale des Graveures sur Bois) in Switzerland. He has had 38 solo exhibitions and participated in more than a hundred group exhibitions at home and abroad. He has received many prestigious awards and prizes for his painting and graphic works. The works of Ryszard Gieryszewski can be found in museums at home and abroad.
