Contains sketches of historical figures from Jan Matejko's works: Copernicus, Batory, Stanczyk, Wit Stwosz, Wernyhora, Armor of the Teutonic Master, Sigismund the Old, Sigismund III, Anna Jagiellon, Skarga, Rejtan, etc., below a bust of Jan Matejko wearing a laurel wreath, next to two figures in a bow, paying homage. Jan Styka (1858-1925), Polish painter, book illustrator. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, later in Rome, Paris, Krakow (under Jan Matejko). After his studies, he settled in Lviv, where he had a studio. From 1900 he settled in Paris, and from 1910 in Italy (on the island of Capri). Traces of non-moisture and folding, non-tear in lower margin. Good condition. 9278/1
