Mieczyslaw Jurgielewicz - painter, graphic artist; studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Stefan Batory University in Vilnius (1923 with Ferdynand Ruszczyc) and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1924-1928 with Mieczyslaw Kotarbiński and Władysław Skoczylas). In 1931-1939 and 1947-1952 he was a teacher at this university. He received a silver medal at the International Art and Technology Exhibition in Paris (1937), and an honorable mention at the Third Festival of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1970). He was a member of the Association of Graphic Artists Ryt (1937-1939), the Association of Polish Graphic Artists, the Bloc of Professional Artists and the Kardasz Group (1957-1963). He was an honorary member of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence (since 1965).
