Jerzy Bandura (born 1915 in Chabówka, died 1987 Cracow). From 1933 to 1939 he studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studio of Prof. X. Dunikowski and graphic design in the studio of prof. A. Jurkiewicz.In 1945, he taught sculpture at the High School of Fine Arts in Cracow. Between 1946 and 1986, he was associated with teaching work at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 1957, he received the title of professor. Head of the Department of Sculpture, twice served as dean of the Faculty of Sculpture. He specialized in monumental sculpture and medal making. He participated in competitions for monuments, several of which he realized, including the Adam Mickiewicz Monument in Nowy Sącz, the Nicolaus Copernicus Monument in Chorzow, the monument in Grunwald Fields, the Skalbmier Tragedy Monument, the frieze of the Theater and Opera Building in Lodz. In addition, he was involved in wall painting, easel painting and woodcuts. He composed stained glass and mosaics. He was a member of the Nine Graphic Artists group. He received high honors and awards for his artistic work and for his pedagogical work, including the Award of the City of Cracow, the Award of the Minister of Culture and Art.
