linocut, paper, size 33 x 49 cm, signed p. d. "E.L.Karłowski"
Eustachy Lech Karłowski (1927-1975) is a graphic artist, draughtsman and illustrator associated with the Coast and Gdańsk, where he designed the graphic layout of the local press, illustrated books and publications, but also practiced artistic printmaking to good effect. His sea themes, cityscapes are numerous, but also, as in the presented work, and landscapes from the surrounding area, with views of Kashubian lakes, which the nearby "Kashubian Switzerland" hid among forests and hills. A synthetic and thoroughly modern landscape that reflects well the spirit of the 1960s.
