Lithograph made in 1881 at the Artistic Lithography Department of Aureliusz Pruszyński in Cracow and published by the Artistic and Literary Circle in Cracow.
Artur Bartels (Barthels) (13.10.1818 Wilno or Slutskdistrict - 23.12.1885 Krakow) Polish satirist, singer, talented amateur draftsman, landowner. Associated with Wilno until 1863, he was known for his three series of satirical drawings ca 1845 published in Wilczynski's "Album of Vilnius" of 1858. In ca 1863 he settled in Warsaw, and from ca 1876 in Krakow, where he made his living from drawings on wood of usually hunting subjects; see SAP vol. 1 pp. 94-95.
