Artur Bartels (Barthels) (13.10.1818 Wilno or Slutskdistrict - 23.12.1885 Krakow) Polish satirist, singer, talented amateur draftsman, landowner. Associated with Wilno until 1863, he was known for his three series of satirical drawings ca 1845 published in Wilczynski's "Album of Vilnius" of 1858. In ca 1863 he settled in Warsaw, and from ca 1876 in Krakow, where he made his living from drawings on wood of usually hunting subjects; see SAP vol. 1 pp. 94-95.
Aureliusz Pruszyński (9.09.1847 Kasinka Mała Powi. Limanowa - 22.04.1904 Kraków) was a Kraków lithographer, owner of the highly regarded Aureliusz Pruszyński Artistic Lithography Workshop in Kraków established in 1873 at 17 Pijarska Street; from ca. 1902 his son Zenon Pruszyński owned the workshop (see SAP vol. 8 pp. 92-93). In the factory of A. Pruszyński, from the end of the 19th century, leading artists of Cracow reflected their graphic works in lithography (including posters), including the famous "Teka Melpomena"
