Lot description Show orginal version

lithograph, paper, 34 x 27 cm in light of the original passe - partout (60 x 45 cm made in the 19th century by the museum outhouse "Albertina Facsymiles" in Vienna; Durer's signature reflected on the plate under an inscription personally written by Durer; a unique print from the only exceptional edition of Durer's prints published at the end of the 19th century.

Dürer painted the first watercolor, which is the first color landscape in art history to accurately depict a specific location. Watercolors and gouaches depicting landscapes, architecture and nature remained for a long time only in the hands of the artist's family, especially the artist's widow Agnes Frey (1475 - 1539) , and were not shown to the public . Many of them were purchased from Agnès Frey by the Austrian Archduke Albert, who expanded the collections of the Albertina Palace, where he lived, surrounding himself with numerous masterpieces.
