Katerina Orthwein
Artist born in Bulgaria. Studied at the High School of Fine Arts. Studied and graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Illustration and Graphic Arts with the excellent Prof. Peter Chuklev.
Participated in about 80 exhibitions in Bulgaria, Poland, Denmark, Italy, France, Canada, USA, Japan, Greece, Serbia, Macedonia, Slovakia, and Georgia. She has had 40 solo exhibitions, including 5 in Japan and 1 in Paris in 2010. She received several awards and a silver and gold medal at the Academie Internationale de Lutece International Competitions in Paris in 1982 and 1983. She also received a silver medal at the 9th Salon International de Peinture, Sculpture, Tapicerie, Paris d'Ivri in 1992. She participated in the UNESCO International Art Festivals and Symposia - Patras, Greece - 2007, '08, '09, 10.
For 10 years she ran her own publishing house Proxima. Outstanding graphic designer - 15 years of activity in the field of artistic printmaking at the P. Picasso Experimental Lithography Studio, in Warsaw. Illustrates books for children. A skilled lithographer and illustrator. Expressive painting, freedom of gesture, spontaneity. Colorist, fabulousness and poetic reverie.
