He came from near Włoszczowa. Studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow in 1879-80 and 1883-87. After his studies, he left for Lviv. In 1891 he opened a photographic atelier there. He also taught drawing at the Franz Josef Gymnasium.
Later the storm of war drove him to Crimea, from which he returned in 1923 and settled in Bialystok where he had a solo exhibition that year. He became a drawing teacher at the local high school. He painted portraits and landscapes.
