Biography
Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, first as a free student and then under the direction of Klavdiy Lebedev and Ivan Ivanovich Tworozhnikov. In 1897 he was expelled from the academy and went abroad. For a time he studied at a private painting school in Munich. After returning to Poland, he established a private school of painting in Warsaw. In 1904 he was appointed professor at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts, a position he held until 1907. In 1917 he was a professor at the Polish School of Fine Arts in Kiev. He participated in many foreign exhibitions in St. Petersburg, London (1908), Rome (1911). He took part in the International Exhibition in Amsterdam (1912) and the 11th International Exhibition in Munich (1913). He painted primarily portraits, but also painted landscapes, designed stained glass windows and made sketches of painting impressions.
