"The most striking characteristic of Friedrich Pautsch's great talent is his exuberance and explosiveness, his impetuous force. From almost every one of his canvases beams a painterly temperament so violent and broad that it is almost volcanic. One has the impression that his soul reaches boiling point at the moment of creation and that the buoyancy of this heated atmosphere is so great that it must discharge itself in the frenzied momentum of the brush, in the orgy of colors."
Wladyslaw Kozicki, "Frederick Pautsch," in Fine Arts, IV, 1927/28, p. 121.
