Erno ERB, Feast of Jordan

Oil, plate, 49 x 69 cm, signed l.d.: E Erb, before 1939, on the back handwritten inscription "Feast of Jordan / Lvov Volorka Orthodox Church". Very good state of preservation.

Painter, associated with the Lvov art community. He was an extremely talented self-taught artist whose work was compared to that of Maks Liebermann. His oil compositions with characteristic thick texture, painted with free brushstrokes, are usually cityscapes, genre motifs with women at the market, Ukrainian folk types, still lifes.
