Alicja Słaboń-Urbaniak was born in Cracow. She currently lives and works in the village of Modlnica near Krakow. In 1988 she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. She received a distinction and a medal for her diploma work. Since graduating, she has been steadily engaged in artistic work. While practicing easel painting, she has developed her recognizable style, consisting of simplification and flattening of space, sometimes reminiscent of naive painting or primitive art, always filled with a wealth of color and textures. However, the freedom of handling the workshop, the masterful sense of color, leaves no illusion that we are dealing with a professional artist. Her rich artistic output has been presented in many solo and group exhibitions. She constantly cooperates with galleries in Poland and abroad. The artist's works are in museum and private collections in Japan, the USA, Scandinavia, Germany, France and the Polish Consulate in Berlin. (after the artist's website)
