Wojtek Siudmak, working in France since 1966, is considered one of the leading (next to M.C. Escher, M. Klinger and L. Fini) representatives of fantastic realism, a trend related to surrealism. The artist himself, emphasizing his distinctiveness, calls himself a "fantasy hyperrealist." Fantastic realism, like surrealism, is that unusual territory where dreams become reality. As Baudelaire notes in the preface to "Artificial Paradises" - "Common sense shows that the terrestrial existence of things is very tenuous, and that true reality is found only in dreams and dreams." Siudmak's painterly visions are characterized by excellent technique, sure line, and virtuosity in rendering the three-dimensional illusion of space. The artist enriches these traditional means of expression with his own artistic vision. He creates a world full of personal symbolism, fantastic constructions, unexpected strands of thought and unique inspiration, where the focal point is usually the human being.
