Rafal Olbinski immigrated to the United States in 1981, quickly embarking on a career as a successful painter, illustrator and designer. His imaginative and evocative imagery soon appeared in publications such as Atlantic Monthly, New York Times, New Yorker, Newsweek and the Times. In addition to creating works for periodicals, Olbinski created numerous poster illustrations for opera productions, theaters and music festivals around the world. He has won more than 150 awards for these works, including Gold and Silver Medals from the Art Directors Club of New York or Society of Illustration awards in both New York and Los Angeles, and similar awards in England, France and Italy. Along with creating a significant portfolio of illustrations and prints, Olbinski has had more than 30 solo exhibitions in the last decade in the United States, Belgium, Chile, Germany, Japan and Poland. His paintings are in the collections of the National Arts Club, the Smithsonian Institution, the U.S. Library of Congress, the Suntory Museum in Osaka, Japan, as well as numerous private collections around the world.
