Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in 1973-78 with Jan Szancenbach. Artist associated with Krakow. Her paintings have been exhibited in, among others: Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw, Grand Palais in Paris, Kunsthalle in Nuremberg, Towo Art Center in Tokyo, Museum Haus Ludwig in Saarlouis, The Polish Museum of America in Chicago and Inter Art Galerie Reich in Cologne. She has held numerous solo exhibitions in: Krakow, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Frankfurt am Main, Luxembourg, Bonn, Darmstadt and Cologne. Winner of the Odilon-Lesur-Adrian Foundation award in Paris, "Le Salon 1979 Racines" at the Grand Palais. Awarded the prize of the Foundation Le Groupement des Industrieles de la Region Gennevilliers in Asniere-Sur-Seine (Centre Robert Lavergne,1980) at the 5th Biennale Des Beaux Arts. The artist's works are in the collections of: National Museum in Cracow, Deutsches-Polen Institut in Darmstadt, The Polish Museum of America in Chicago. Her painting style was formed on the basis of the Cracow school of colorism. A recurring theme in Anna Karpowicz-Westner's works is woman. She is shown against a landscape background or indoors, deep in thought, exposing her inner world.
