"I am turned on by the black stories of the Expressionists: Kirchner, Munch or Nolde. It's a source of inspiration for me and an energy that makes me still want to be a painter. I paint while listening to The Rolling Stones because, like them, the role of outsider and rebel suits me. I don't want to be fashionable and I have no desire to identify with modernity, i.e. politics, technological advances and questionable customs." - Zdzislaw Nitka
