Cieszyn. Visual artist, creator of objects, poet and teacher.Studied art education
art education at the University of Silesia in Cieszyn in 1974/78.He was far from the artistic
center, he spent his entire life in Kaczyce Górne. He was associated with the Foksal Gallery for nearly two
decades. Since 2000, he cooperated with the Muzalewska Gallery in Poznań (which organized many of
his exhibitions, posthumously "Resonance" - date ) and his work is represented by it. At
the beginning of his artistic path he was involved in painting and sculpture. In the late 1960s, he began
created his first spatial arrangements and participated in art actions. In his painting
he denied the traditional role of the painting image and the role of the painter as an artist. He was interested in painting
impersonal, mechanical, but at the same time joyful and vital. He used unusual sub-images and
painting materials (walls, mirrors, school notebooks, maps). In the late 1970s, issues of recording came to the fore in Szewczyk's art. Andrzej Szewczyk is one of the most interesting
figures of postwar Polish art.
