Image from the private collection of doc. Józef Ligęza (1910-1972), prominent ethnographer, folklorist, collector of Silesian folk songs, director of the Upper Silesian Museum in Bytom in 1963-1972.
A miner, he was one of the most active members of the circle of amateur artists at ZDK of the "Wieczorek" mine. His paintings depicted Silesian landscapes with characteristic heaps, chimneys and mine shafts. His lively and extremely colorful genre scenes show everyday and festive days of residents of mining settlements. In addition to painting, the artist practiced sculpture, but he left few works in wood and coal.
