Biography
Born in a poor family, miner by profession (worked in the mine "Wieczorek" ); well-known in Silesia representative of amateur worker's art. Since his return from the Soviet gulag in Kamchatka in 1947, he was associated with the Janowska Group (together with Teofil Ociepka and other non-professional painters). His work focused on depicting images of vanishing Silesia. His work is characterized by rich colors, simplified geometric forms of depicted buildings, figures with barely marked faces and a wealth of detail. He earned the nickname of the Silesian Brueghl.
