Biography
Katarzyna Karpowicz graduated with honors from the local State High School of Fine Arts in 2005. She studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studio of Professor Grzegorz Bednarski and in the studio of Professor Leszek Misiak. She defended her diploma with an excellent grade in 2010. She has had 21 solo exhibitions at home and abroad, including: "Maurin" (Galeriaart.pl, Warsaw, 2022), "Goodbye, Till Tomorrow" Triada Gallery, Gdansk, 2021), "Moment" (Wirydarz Gallery, Lublin, 2021), "Silvery" (Art Gallery, Warsaw, 2020), "Small Great Life" (Platon Gallery, Wroclaw, 2019), "Blue Glass" (Art Gallery, Warsaw, 2018), "Goodbye, Till Tomorrow" (Triada Gallery, Gdansk, 2017), "Genius Loci" (Artemis Gallery, Krakow), "Harold and Ernest" (St.Bartolomeus, Lower Basildon, UK, 2016), "Life of an Image" (Szép Műhely Gallery, Budapest, Hungary, 2014), "On the Road" (Platon Gallery, Wroclaw, 2014), "Man and Animal" (MCKiS, Elektor Gallery, Warsaw, 2013), "I Dreamed" (Art Gallery, Warsaw, 2011), "Transformations" (BWA Gallery, Zamosc, 2011). She participated in dozens of group exhibitions, including: "Antigravity", (BWA, Tarnów, 2021), "Young Polish Painting" (National Museum in Gdansk 2019), "Art Now" (National Museum in Krakow, 2019), "XIV Aniversario" (Galeria de Arte Montsequi, Madrid, Spain), "Realism, Two Views" (BWA Gallery, Bydgoszcz, 2018), "Leszek Misiak and Students", (Galeria Centrum, Nowohuckie Centrum Kultury, Cracow, 2017), "Configurations" (Bunkier Sztuki, Cracow, 2017), "Abstraction, figuration, contemporary Cracow painting" (MANK Gallery, Szentendre, Hungary, 2016), "Exercises" (Platan Gallery, Budapest, Hungary, 2014), "Landschaft als suggestive Vision von Licht und Raum", (Steyr, Austria, 2007). Since 2014, Katarzyna Karpowicz has been listed among the top ten artists nominated in the Compass of Young Art. Katarzyna Karpowicz's paintings are in collections at home and abroad, and in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Gdansk. In 2019 she won the Anna Maria Siemieńska Grazella Foundation's creative scholarship for outstanding young artists.
