oil, fiberboard, dimensions 27 x 32 cm, sign.p.d. "J.Mularczyk"
Tatra themes in the works of Jozef Mularczyk (1916-2009), an artist trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, are frequent and characteristic in his work. A student of Jarocki and Pautsch, he lived in Zakopane for many years, and his works are mostly studies from nature created outdoors - hence their small formats. Painted with characteristic, decisive movement with thick impastos in a post-impressionist manner, they convey the rawness of Tatra nature and its unique beauty. The motif of the road to the Black Pond below Rysy often appears in his paintings and is recognizable even without authorial descriptions.
