Henryk Laskowski has repeatedly stressed that he draws his artistic inspiration from culture (including mass culture), mainly film and literature. Surrealist compositions combine these elements with urban space and nature, sneaking into the painting if only in the form of the view outside the window.
Photography is also an important medium for the artist, being a part of the creative process - Laskowski treats it as a preparatory sketch, selecting appropriate frames for painting modification.
