Anna Kossyk was born in 1998 in Zabrze.
Anna Kossyk's adventure with artistic creation began at the age of 10, where she first stood on the stage of the Stanislaw Moniuszko Grand Theater in Poznan. She attended the General Ballet School there. This allowed her to develop her artistic sensitivity and gain the realization that art is the only field in which she wants to move. She started with sketches, trying to capture the movement of her ballet classmates' dances. This evolved into a desire to develop
painting and drawing skills simultaneously with dance. She began her art studies with a major in
Scenography and Fashion Design at the University of Arts in Poznań, which she completed with a bachelor's degree in the Theatrical Phenomena Studio under Prof. Dr. Piotr Tetlak in 2022. According to her, this was in part a continuation of her dance path and a perfect combination of these two seemingly mutually exclusive fields of art. Especially since an important issue for her throughout her studies was a broad understanding of process in terms of each category of art. She was able to supplement her understanding of form and its content in the studio of Professor Jaroslaw Kozlowski, Professor Dominik Lejman or Professor Jacek Strzelecki. Already during the first year of her studies, from 2018 she began to take an active part in the exhibitions of the Young Able Sex Collective, not only as an artist, co-founder, but
also as a curator at the Furnace Gallery. Currently, she is continuing her art studies at the Faculty of Painting and Drawing at the University of Arts in Poznań (5th year) in the XII Painting Studio under Prof. Janusz Marciniak. At the turn of 2021/2022, she participated in a series of Project Room exhibitions at the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, where she was a curator and artist in the exhibition
"Pathology of Normality."
For Anna Kossyk, painting is an area that is very close to her, where she tries to find the greatest opportunities for self-expression and the search for content that is important to her, paying attention to the figures, focusing on the details, intricacies of bodies and poses. With a sensitive and expressive way of painting with full analysis she adds a commentary on the reality she finds. Because reality is not just a collection of fixed elements. It is above all a constant becoming. In her works she also refers to the role of the ballerina and the perception of the body. He likes to draw inspiration from Jenny Saville, to Lucian Freud, to conceptual artists representing Fluxus activities.
