Adam Batycki (1886 - 1970) is a Przemyśl resident by descent and a Poznań resident by choice, painter and architect, graduate of the Academy of Art in Poznań. An outstanding watercolorist, he was the author of mountain views, sea views, vedutas and urban scenes.
The featured watercolor is from the artist's pre-war oeuvre and depicts a monument to the 15th Poznań Lancers Regiment, highly distinguished in the battle against the Bolsheviks in 1920. The monument, erected in 1927 at the back of the Franciscan Church in Poznan, was destroyed by the Nazis and reerected in 1982.
