Katana, signed with a two-character signature: KANE-SADA. The blade length is 67.5 cm and the width of the blade at the ha-machi is 2.93 cm. The time of manufacture is the Tenwa era, the year 1681. The setting of the sword is high quality Owari Koshirae. All metal parts include a dragon motif. The tsuba is covered with radial lines called Yasurime. These can be found primarily on the sword's pins, but as you can see they are also on the tubes. On swords they are also a kind of signature of the blacksmith. They are the penultimate operation before the engraving of the blacksmith's signature, if the blacksmith chooses to sign the sword. The raised edge of the tsuba adds additional beauty. The BNHS (Bijutsu Nihonto Hozon Shinsakai =美術日本刀保存審査会) organization has issued a Certificate of Authenticity for the signature: KANESADA. The level of this Certificate is "Tokubetsu," meaning "Especially worth preserving." The very common name Kanesada does not allow for immediate identification of the creator, although they are one big family operating in many provinces. In addition to the full Koshirae binding, the sword has an additional full shira-saya scabbard (the so-called white scabbard). In addition, the sword has a Certificate of Sale in English, which is very helpful in identifying it.
Note: the sword is very sharp.
