France, Paris, 2nd quarter of 19th century.
Pistol barrels 8-gauge, threaded, steel, rusticated, with moustache; decorative inscriptions in gold on the backs: "Pierre Gastinne Renette a Paris", and closer to the bottom part numbers: "1" i "2". On the steel braids engraved acanthus thread, shells and palm leaves; similarly decorated locks, lock plates and trigger guards along with whiskers. The rosewood beds, short, decorated with carving: under the barrels intertwined acanthus leaves, on the flasks in the grip part - small diagonal notches framed with stylized acanthus leaves. From the inside on the bed under the barrels imprinted letters: "J. M. P." (ownership marks?). The heads are oval, wrought with steel viscera with acanthus engraving, ending with laufra-shaped helms.
Wooden box, flat, cuboidal, locked with a key; in the middle of the lid - brass cartouche, blind; inside the box lined with green cloth - slots for pistols and accessories: 1/ wrench, socketed, with wooden, blackened, flattened handle; 2/ screwdriver with similar handle; 3/ steel spoon for measuring gunpowder; 4/ cylindrical box, rosewood, turned - for copper pistons (pres. 3 pcs.); 5/ cylindrical tin grease ampoule with the name of an English plating company beaten on the bottom: "203 / JAMES DIXON / & SONS / SHEFFIELD". In the corners on the diagonal of the box - compartments with lids: in one preserved 2 lead balls, in the other - several nails - so-called "stretchers" made of felt.
The lock of the box is inoperative (the key in the compartment with the balls).
