Biography
The date of the artist's birth is not entirely certain. Some sources give 1890 instead of 1878. Erb lived and worked in Lviv all his life. He also spent some time in Truskavets. He was a self-taught artist. He painted mainly oil compositions with rich, impasto textures. The artist's favorite subjects were genre scenes from city life: peddlers selling flowers at the market, types of Ukrainian peasants, portraits of Jews and still lifes.
