Slight cracking of upper spine, slight staining of front cover, loss of corner of one page, good condition nonetheless. Old notations on the front pastedown and title page. Stenciled title page, in the text 127 full-page copperplate engravings depicting sepulchral epitaphs of famous personalities (e.g. Dante, Petrarca, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Virgil). Each plate is accompanied by a short biography. The illustrations were engraved by the Breslau painter and printmaker Tobias Fendt; he prepared them based on drawings made by Seyfried Rybisch during his travels in Italy. Epitaphs were first published in the work "Monumenta sepulclorum cum epigraphis ingenio et doctrina excellentium virorum" (Wroclaw 1754).
