BAEDEKER Karl - Das Generalgouvernement. Reisehandbuch von ... Mit 3 Karten und 6 Stadtplänen. Leipzig 1943; K. Baedeker. 16d, pp. LXIV, 264, maps 6. oryg. pp.
Slight rubbing of the corners of the covers, very good condition. Own stamp. The only edition of the guidebook. Master map dated IV 1943. "This is one of the most bizarre and at the same time frightening publications of World War II. In 1943, the prestigious Baedeker publishing house prepared a tourist guide to the General Government. The largest genocide in history was just being carried out in the parastate, which the Germans had created from part of the lands of occupied Poland. Meanwhile, the book's author praised the sights, suggested tour routes, wrote about prices and means of transportation [...]. The guide credited the Germans with the authorship of all achievements in civilization and culture, encouraged readers to travel through the conquered territory, and mentioned 'revived' cities" (portal podroze.onet).
