Strumillo Andrzej (1927-2020) - Scene with a hunter on a sleigh, multicolor paper cut and ink. 18. XII 1977.
Autograph of the author. Scene with a hunter on a sleigh by the famous Polish painter, graphic artist and poet. Originally from Vilnius, he lived in Warsaw and the Suwałki region. His art since the 1950s has been exhibited all over the world including Beijing and Paris. On the reverse side, the artist's wishes to Richard ( Frelek) a prominent party activist. Written in brown ink in archaic script. "Richard Dear! Another Year is coming. Is it alone? We also bring it on our heads. We forge happiness. We wish you a good anvil and a handy hammer. A blow that is effective. Well, and strength indefatigable.and these are given by touching the earth on which the forest grows." Secretary Frelek was a professor and secretary at the PZPR Central Committee. Since during the communist era, getting a cooperative apartment required many years of waiting, Secretary Frelek expedited the decisions of officials, as evidenced by Strumillo's entry : " Housing matters are moving more nimbly, thanks!" These wishes are a witness to the era and the artists' musings to the authorities.
