One of the best known works of Marceli Skałkowski (1818-1846), poet, underground activist. Together with Edward Dembowski, among others, he participated in underground preparations for the planned 1846 Krakow Uprising. He died on February 19, 1846 in the village of Burzyn, killed by peasants during the Galician massacre.
