On a blank page before the title page is pasted a press clipping with an extensive review of the first edition of the title published in "Rzeczpospolita" of December 1922 - "The operation the author performed on the soul of Mr. Pilsudski did not come off flatteringly for him. The general judgment is harsh, even b. harsh. Nevertheless, even admirers of the 'commandant' cannot deny this book that the author sought the truth, not to crush the legend, but what one seeks the truth for - to find it.".
