"Physiology of taste or meditations on perfect gastronomy" by Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (155-1826) - French lawyer, politician and writer. The work that brought him the greatest fame is not a cookbook in the common sense, but one great "hymn" to feasting and the pleasures of the table, full of anecdotes and curiosities. Nice German edition prepared by Emil Ludwig, with illustrations from the 19th-century. French edition. Light rubbing of the bending of the covers, otherwise very good condition, striking decorative spine, neatly edited by Insel-Verlag.
